While I was at SXSW, I kept a small stash of Tan Dollar albums in whatever bag I was carrying to hand out when the mood struck. I mean, what is the festival for if not hardcore, tooth & nail promotion? At the Impose Magazine showcase at the Longbranch Inn, I attempted to hand CDs to two folks who turned out to be writers for Impose — and after some merriment involving Total Slacker, A Sunny Day In Glasgow, The Fresh & Onlys and Thee Magnificent Oh Sees, we parted ways.

They have just recently written about “Your Body As A Temple” with some choice words.

And perhaps I should add that Total Slacker’s set was one of my favorites. It’s one thing to smash the shit out of a guitar — it’s another to smash the shit out of a guitar and then ride the groove effortlessly with another guitar for 10 more minutes.

Tan Dollar recorded a set for KDVS long-running concept program “Phoning It In.” Listen to it here, and then peruse their magnificent back catalog. The Endless Bummer will be recording one of these bad boys shortly as well; David’s old band, The Diskettes, has an amazing telephone performance located here. Long live the land line.

Here is the new LIFE’S BLOOD website. It is simple and clean, and is the work of a good friend. The catalog page is now 100% up-to-date with easy Paypal cart buttons. Some very exciting releases are coming up in the next few months and you can peep them on that page.

In other news, SXSW is a holistic full-body vice grip of a music “festival.” Let’s cross our fingers for a Life’s Blood showcase next year, yeah?
