Here’s a video made by Placerville’s Cinema Caldera for “Lip Beings,” from Pregnant’s soon-to-be released LP “Regional Music.” It features a lot beautiful nature shots. You should really just go to the actual Vimeo page for this video and watch it in HD because it looks remarkable.
Speaking of remarkable: having finally heard this new record…I can’t get this to the presses fast enough. That’s all I’ll say now. I’ve updated the page for the record with an MP3 of the track “Uphill Divination,” which is a horn-laden posi-pop masterpiece that gets under your skin so effortlessly that you hardly have a chance to notice the intense drum programming and the glurgles of wet sound.
Furthermore: Woman Year’s “May Peace Bewitch You” tapes are out today. This gem of an album is filled with totally bewildering guitar playing, dope beats, and some of the weirdest overtly pop music I’ve ever heard. It’s like the recontexualization of all sorts of fringe and avantgarde in a pop context without any net loss. There’s enough variety, too, often within one track, to warrant several immediate repeat listens. Woman Year is the work of Michael RJ Saalman, whom you have maybe heard as guitarist warlock in Afternoon Brother (whose truly shredding “Maiden America” we’ve just released recently), as well as in his work both live and on record with Pregnant. ORDER ONE!?. Don’t forget you can get any 2 tapes for $10, and any more than that for $4 a piece (3 for $14, 4 for $18)…all postage-paid of course!
I’ve added streamable MP3s to a few more upcoming records, updated some record descriptions, and fixed the “ADD TAPE” button for buying more than 2 tapes. And fixed some apparently broken “VIEW CART” buttons. OK. That’s all for today.
