I updated the catalog with some information about some upcoming releases that will call it a year for Life’s Blood. 20 releases in a year and a half is pretty good, I think. More information coming in there.

The “Sacramento Split” and Pregnant’s “Regional Music” are both killing it metaphysically. If you don’t know about them, you should get acquainted. The “Split” was lowered in cost by $1 to $11 shipped inthe US. You can still buy both together for $21 shipped in the US, what are you waiting for?

I hope I won’t have to make a new image tomorrow with Meg Whitman’s mug.

In higher-tech news, Life’s Blood releases will trickle into the internet in the next month or so as digitally purchasable “things.” More on that as it comes.

Here’s one of the best releases of 2010 and you can download it for free totally officially and legitimately.

DUSTIN WONG – LET IT GO (WTR CLR, 2010)

Dustin is one of my favorite musicians and I have to seek out his recent Thrill Jockey double LP pretty soon…he’s going on a US tour really soon, check it out ’cause he’s da bomb.

Edit: If you are arriving on this website for the first time ever, here is a sampler of music that we have released. Thank you!

The “Sacramento Split” finally ships this week after months of anticipation. What a beautiful package it is. I am so excited for this release — four songs endlessly replayable songs by four amazing, unique, hugely talented artists. Along with Pregnant’s “Regional Music,” this is a momentous time for Life’s Blood. You can buy the split right here, shipping included.

Or, to “celebrate” these two releases, until Sunday 10/17 until Sunday 10/24 (!)you can pick up both of them together in a special “Sacramento Sac”* for a combined $22 dollars shipped in the US. You can purchase the “Sac Sac” right below this text:

A new video for a track from Pregnant’s second album “Ike Wimin” (available from KDVS Recordings). This is the first in what will amount to a small onslaught of videos for Pregnant music, with videos for multiple tracks from the JUST RELEASED “Regional Music” coming very very soon.

Pregnant is playing a show tomorrow evening to celebrate the release of “Regional Music.” It is at THE HUB in Sacramento and also features ALAK♡, Fine Steps, and Small Bodies.

If you want to buy this new record oh wait, here you can do it right here:

Today is a momentous one: the piecing together of Pregnant’s “Regional Music” begins. They’ll start shipping most likely by tomorrow or Friday. Officially “out” next week, but available right here:

Here’s a little blurb about the record:

The best album by Daniel Trudeau of Placerville, California as the band “Pregnant.”  Purely pop songwriting that is unafraid to bliss out into pure error glitch. Blue screen of life. There is nothing “usual” about this music, and it cannot feel more normal, organic, and timeless. Here we have poptimistic jubilations, hip-hop freakouts, and somber meditations. 11 tracks and a cute and meditative lock groove. 500 copies on “Big Bird” marbled yellow vinyl (okay, it’s kind of more “blinged-out Big Bird” but what can you do) in pro-printed jackets with parallel universe sax-y art and an informative insert. Includes download code.

In other very-delayed record news: a couple people have messaged me about the Sacramento Split — don’t worry, it isn’t lost in the mail! I am awaiting the jackets. When I receive them, I will expediently get them into your hands.

Rachel from Kiss Kiss Fantastic and Persona La Ave made this cute lil video for Kites Sail High’s “Action Figures.” Nostalgia!

In the mean-time, this video is good:

Here is the cover of Pregnant’s “Regional Music.”

Out very soon on “Big Bird” marbled yellow vinyl with a “download code.” First handful of copies come with a mix CD from Daniel of Pregnant, who is known to make excellent mix CDs.

08/20/2010

There’s a new page on this site called “Downloads.” To make sure there is no confusion: this new page is for redeeming “Download Codes” that will from today forward be replacing CDRs as part of LP orders. So, when you buy an LP from Life’s Blood, you will get a small piece of paper, a “Download Card,” and on that is a code, and you put that code into the Download Machine, and you get MP3s of the music that you have on LP for enjoyment in situations where a turntable is not a possibility. Some future tapes may also come with download codes.

Impose ran a neat little article on Life’s Blood today based on some questions they asked me.

Kites Sail High just wrapped up their mini-tour of California with a blowout at Thesex warehouse in LA on Tuesday. For a band with less than ten live performances under their belt, and whose music is heavily based on sample manipulation, they have managed to put on a totally engaging and dynamic set. You can only go up from here. And of course one cannot say enough good things about Gobble Gobble whose commitment to their craft knows no boundaries. Furthermore, Teen Daze and Baths are required listening. Gobble are touring pretty much forever, so go have a good time.

Um, other stuff, soon.
